Creating New Jobs

We can give businesses incentives to create new jobs without sacrificing state revenues, including targeted tax breaks for subsidized training of new workers, wider allocations of tax credits for the establishment of new corporate operations locally and the development of new laws that encourage small business undertakings, including improved credit and easier access to health care for the workforce.

New Skills

Specialized vocational skills are just as important as higher education in the increasingly specialized employment arenas that accompany our new economy. Promoting opportunities for technical and vocational training is part of growing an attractive and capable Colorado workforce.

Opportunities In This Neighborhood

The Denver Tech Center and the business corridor surrounding Centennial Airport will be primary locales for new and growing business that will open job opportunities in close proximity to all who live in House District 37, driving up home values in our neighborhood and improving quality of life right in our own back yards.

New Opportunities

We must make better use of our legislative powers to capitalize on the stimulus and growth initiatives that are on our doorsteps. Fantastic new opportunities for economic development are now within our grasp, and they must be energetically cultivated.

Research and Innovation

Colorado must become a world-renowned center for technological development in the areas of aerospace, biotechnology, medicine and renewable energy. The support industries which these central areas of growth promote expand into wider spheres of employment, reaching nearly every skill set and employment sector.

Businesses heavy in research and development and high-tech manufacturing require specialized skills in their workers and tend to pay more, while at the same time stimulating other less specialized support business to grow around them. This opens doors to employment of people with all levels of training. Capitalizing on our strengths and integrating our assets, such as our educational base and our existing business infrastructure, we must pass laws that promote these key priorities while improving state revenues and creating educational and vocational opportunities.
